(Santa Clarita, Calif.) – Simi Valley elected leaders have thrown their support behind Santa Clarita Councilmember and businessman Dante Acosta for State Assembly.
Simi Valley Councilmembers Glen Becerra, Mike Judge, and Keith Mashburn were joined by Simi Valley Unified School District Trustee Scott Blough in endorsing Acosta.
“Dante Acosta knows how difficult it is for local governments to meet their obligations with the state increasingly off-loading their responsibilities onto city and county governments,” said Councilmember Keith Mashburn. “These new local obligations usually come without the funding necessary and force local government to make very difficult decisions.”
“It is crucial that we have an Assemblymember who understands the very difficult job local elected officials have,” said Councilmember Glen Becerra. “Dante is an effective leader and his business experience has been very helpful guiding important decisions. He’s the right person for the job.”
“I’m grateful to my colleagues in Simi Valley for their support,” said Acosta. “I know we will work very well together addressing regional challenges and I see myself as an extension of them in Sacramento. I will be a partner to local leaders to get the best support we can from the State.”
Dante Acosta was elected to the Santa Clarita City Council in 2014 and currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem. He is a successful businessman and Gold Star Father. He is running for State Assembly to create jobs, fix our public education system, and put a stop to the early release of criminals, which is placing an unfair burden on local governments and causing an increase in crime.
